I receive at least 5 of these a day. Some indian call centre trying to sell me mobile phones, kitchens, double glazing etc.
Now they phone automatically and hang up if u pick up the phone. It is then logged on their system that you are home and they will use a member of their sales force to give you a "real" call. I did a 1471 and it sent me to an auto reply saying that I could dial this number and stop them calling in advance. This is of course charged to your phonebill.
Am seriously thinking about changing to bulldog and having these rubbish calls barred forever.

I think there is a way you can have them classed as nuisance calls and have them stopped.. but I'm not sure how that is done..

you can register yourself with the telephone prference service which in theory stops them - they did the same thing with spam faxes some time ago.
I really do not know anyone who takes them seriously anymore so surely as a marketing strategy it has to have had its day soon.

My supplier gave me a number to block these calls it works, the problem is that it wont let ex directory calls through but if you have friends that are ex directory you can give them a number to dial and it allows them to make the call.

when I get a call from them now, I wait until they have finished speaking and then say: I didn't get all of that, would you please repeat it?
hehe ;D
