Baddabings amusing comment reminded me of the story in the papers last week.
A hot potatoe of a subject I know lol but hey -
Is it only in the UK that the offices of the immigration service can be being serviced and cleaned by illegal immigrants. On one level you have to laugh on another level it really is quite worrying.

It is incredibly worrying, and whilst it may not be all that visible, and others may not see it this way, but it is having a bad effect on our country as a whole. The youth of today (such as myself) can no longer get jobs, apprenticeships, or anything really for that matter, as these people are taking up our land and our jobs. They are willing to come to this country, and work for less than what us UK citizens ask for, which to be honest isn't much at all, in comparison to some of the jobs out there. Not only that, but OUR businesses like the fact they can get cheap labour, and are now moving all of our factories and jobs abroad, so they can make larger profits and minimalize spending in tax and the like. I have no problem with other race, religion or creed. But there are now more foreign people in Scotland than anything else, which I found saddening, as soon we will lose our national identity to these people. They are not Scottish, people like myself are. Not only do they take our jobs, our available property (what little of it is left) but the people who come here hellbent on destruction, or not being law-abiding citizens sickens me. Just yesterday, I read a story on the bbc.co.uk/news site, under Scotland and in the city I live (Stirling) I read about a man in the town centre originally from India (Who owns all 6 shops on one street) Coaxed 2 girls (One 13 the other 17) into his flat, where he gave them vodka, got them drunk, and tried to sexually abuse them. That sent me on an absolute rage!! There are people all over the UK, from many different countries, plotting to blow up places of importance, in our once, reasonably safe and well respected country. Our government is a shambles, and NO ONE should feel safe anymore. I no longer have much respect for immigrants to this country, all they do is bleed off of our great nation, or try to blow it up. Now im away to feel more annoyed, and get myself a beer. (Too much typing)

I know that this will be annoying..... But what did Britain do in a lot of foregin countries some years ago? Arent many of your immigrants comming from your former colonies? How do Brits you feel about that? Do you still have any responsibility towards them? This is a serious question from me.

How do Brits you feel about that? Do you still have any responsibility towards them? This is a serious question from me. Some may be, but not many. I, and british citizens nowadays do not have an responsibility towards these people, our government, yes. I do not condone what Britain is doing in Iraq, and may have done to many other countries in the past, but I do not focus on these things, as they are not my business, I only live on modern day experiences. I have no affiliation to other countries in the commonwealth, I live in the UK and these are my people. British born, law-abiding citizens have my utmost respect. I cannot really answer your question Terrie, as I know not much, and tend to stick to todays world, which in my opinion, is spiralling out of control.

How do Brits you feel about that? Do you still have any responsibility towards them? This is a serious question from me. I don't think that LEGAL immigration is a problem here in Britain but illegal immigration is ie Illegal immigration is the act of moving to or settling in another country or region, temporarily or permanently, in violation of the law or without documents permitting an immigrant to settle in that country. ... The Redefinition of the Concept of Nationality in the UK: Between Historical Responsibility and Normative Challenges This article analysis the extent to which UK membership in the European Economic Community has influenced the redefinition of the concept of nationality in the United Kingdom and the retreat from historical responsibility with respect to citizens of Commonwealth countries. After first describing the rights that have most defined nationality in the United Kingdom prior to its membership to the EEC, it is argued that the EEC has only indirectly influenced the redefinition of UK nationality in three main respects: (a) from the early 1970s, the issue of nationality has been a frequent subject of discussion in parliament; (b) at the same time, there was the need to define nationality for EEC law purposes; and (c) the establishment of European citizenship reinforced nationality not only because nationality represented a means by which to benefit from additional rights, but also because it became a foundation for the construction of subsequent immigration policy. The article suggests that the indirect effect of the EEC on the redefinition of nationality has also provided a legitimate means by which to reconsider the idea of citizenship first in terms of exclusion and inclusion and secondly in terms of detachment from historical responsibility. Responsibility doesn't lie with the people it lies with our government and EEC councils our feelings aren't worth a light so to talk about historical happenings I feel will have no effect on solving current problems.

Well I don't think that britain anymore than france or other countries should hav e colonised others in the first place, but they did. The reasons they left were because they were not wanted anymore and quite rightly too they moved out. Do Britain have a ressponsibility towards them? hmm nah - I don't think they would actually want us to have. However none of that has anything to do with the issue of illegal immigration. As reg points out Immigration is not the issue either and personally do like the fact that Britain does not close its borders to a diversity of culture.
The topic is Illegal immigration - by definition the fact that it is illegal is worrying as anything illegal might be, and I do feel we as a very small geographically and over populatated country do need to be stop illegal immigration where possible.
