With a reported 50 stabbings over the Bank Holiday weekend, it seems the knife amnesty is doing little to stop this terrible type of crime. It is time to bring back random stop and search tactics to catch some of these people who have ignored the amnesty.
I back the campaign to lock up those who carry knives but we are deluding ourselves if we think this is the complete solution. Youngsters who stab fellow pupils would be too young for long prison sentences. We need to tackle the issue of violence among younger people. It was reported today that children as young as 11 were turning up at school drunk WHO IS SERVING THEM?
Your thoughts please.

Youngsters who stab fellow pupils would be too young for long prison sentences. if they carry a knife and stab someone, they are not to young, they can rot in prison. Stop thinking about the knife carriers and more about the victims, this is why this country is going down the pan.

Also.. the people who hand in knives are generally not the sort of people who would ever use one.. Most who use knives are young and have no idea of the consequences of what that can mean to the victims and their families..

Most who use knives are young and have no idea of the consequences of what that can mean to the victims and their families.. any school person who dosent know the consequences of stabbing someone should be locked up anyway. I will never believe that as an excuse.......

I dont see it as an excuse.. it is just that they are not old enough to understand... they might know.. but not understand the consequences.. someone has to teach them.. would that be parents?.. teachers?.. or society in general?

God! I could write pages on this.
I believe that if youre carrying a knife, gun or any weapon you are old enough to know what youre doing.
Unfortunately an amnesty is of no use anyway. Tell me how many of you havent got a knife in the house?
Exactly!!! You all have. JML do a set of 20 kitchen knives for £9.99!
The only way to stop it is to punish. Thats parents, teachers society whoever. A week in prison for a 9 year old (and his parents if need be) is punishment and we need more law enforcement to end this.
Every crime has to have a punishment no matter how big or small.
I could go on forever but whats the point?
