www.computeraddiction.com/It is a problem very similar to Pathological Gambling or Compulsive Shopping. Like other addictions, it affects other people -- family, friends, and co-workers. Spouses complain that their loved ones neglect them. Couples separate when one of the partners finds someone else on the Internet and leaves home. Like gamblers they compulsively keep investing time and money. They fantasize that the next connection they make will solve all their problems. What do you think?

Like gamblers they compulsively keep investing time and money. They fantasize that the next connection they make will solve all their problems. What do you think? I think there is much truth in what is being said there. I certainly found myself pulled into the games and the chat over the last two years. I did actually think it became a problem for me and whilst I didn't so much neglect people ( I never stayed in from meeting friends and doing stuff with the kids for the pc), I was aware that the number of hours being taken away from my work and domestic chores was high. Tbe problem with something like couronne is that is has the dual pull of the game and the people. In other things I have either become bored with the game or fed up with chatting (msn - not on it anywhere near as much as used to be). I have become much better at dipping in and out now (although I often forget to log off lol so it might not look that way) it is much healthier. Fortunately neither of my kids are addicted to the pc or to any computer games and they would rather be out with their mates. For this I am grateful.

Couldn't agree more I to have suffered with this addiction neglecting family, friends. and work. As you may have noticed I have not been around as much lately as I found it necessary to put my priorities in order this doesn't reflect on my interest in the forum but it was something I needed to do. How many of you have thought "I don't really have time for this". Or been playing a game when you don't feel like playing especially if some moron wants to know your asl walks when losing or pushes just for the hell of it. This is a great thread Bada well done.

Yes its right what you right Reg. And Ive been so wondering wether to let the kids ahve theire own pc or not. Now Ive given them one, as its part of life education. But what if they become like me? And sit at it too much. But its not just bad, I think I met some people that I can really call my firends, and one of them is you Reg!
